Embracing Natural Solutions: A Holistic Approach to Supporting Your Immune System

The use of antibiotics has become widespread, often seen as a quick fix to bacterial infections. However, the impact of antibiotics on gut health and the immune system can be significant, sometimes setting back the body’s natural defenses for up to a year. Before reaching for antibiotics, consider these holistic and natural strategies to support your immune system and potentially reduce the need for pharmaceutical interventions.

Rethinking Your Diet for Immune Support

Sugar Reduction: The body’s ability to manage sugar is crucial for overall health. Excessive sugar intake can impair the immune system’s efficiency for up to 12 hours. To keep your immune system vigilant, limit your daily sugar intake to under 40g and your children’s to under 25 g.

Eliminate Gut-Damaging Foods: The gut is responsible for 80% of our immune response. Eliminating processed foods, excessive sugars, and common irritants like corn, soy, and wheat can significantly benefit your gut health and, by extension, your immune system.

Dairy Products: Modern processing and pasteurization methods can diminish the nutritional value of milk products, potentially leading to increased mucus production, which can trap allergens and infections. Consider reducing or eliminating dairy from your diet to help keep your respiratory system clear.

Exploring Alternative Methods for Immune Support

Chiropractic Care: Did you know getting adjusted regularly helps boost your immune system significantly? I personally have been adjusted every other week for the last 37 years, so it’s safe to say I am a fan! Finding the right chiropractor takes just a bit of research; read more about that here.

Congaplex: My favorite over-the-counter health support. Chewable for kids and in Capsule form for adults, it contains all the food-based healing foods to supplement your ailing immune system.

Calcium Lactate: My favorite fever fighter has always been Calcium Lactate. You can read about how to use it to treat fevers here.

Hydrogen Peroxide: A practice recommended in Germany involves using hydrogen peroxide in the ears from fall to spring to boost the immune system and combat infections, potentially offering a simple method to support your body’s defenses.

Garlic and Garlic Oil: Known for its immune-boosting properties, garlic, especially oil for the ears, can be a powerful natural remedy. Incorporate more garlic in your meals; you can check out our recipes; we have several that help introduce this powerful ally to your health! If you are looking for garlic oil for the ears, check out our favorite brand here.

Homeopathics: Have been around for 100’s of years and are an excellent first remedy, especially for babies and young children. Read more about homeopathics here.

Fasting, Fermented Foods, and Bone Broths: These methods can stimulate the immune system, clear sinus passages, and support the body’s healing processes. Spicy bone broths and fermented foods nourish the body and promote gut health. If you have been on multiple antibiotics in the past, your gut is where you need to start healing. This blog can help.

Colloidal Silver: Used sparingly and with caution, colloidal silver can be a last resort before considering antibiotics. It supports the immune system and can be used in the ears and nose. I use this only if all other remedies have failed. Here is one brand I trust and also use on any skin issues. Silver Spray

Essential Oils: A great first line of defense is Thieves and Immupower, which are my go-to for any infection, whether viral or bacterial. Dilute both of these with coconut or olive oil before applying them to the skin for the first time to see tolerance. To read more about the use of essential oils as they apply to the 4 Pillars of Health, you can read here.

Dump Ascorbic Acid Vit C: Did you know this is often made from GMO Corn Syrup? Vitamin C is essential for your health, and it comes from food. What you buy in the stores is usually synthetic versions made from cheap fillers. Save your money. Read more about that here.

Maintaining Vigilance with Natural Remedies

Using natural remedies requires a more proactive and frequent approach than conventional medicines. To effectively combat an infection, natural alternatives often need to be applied more frequently—every 15 to 30 minutes initially, reducing as symptoms improve. You’ve been trained not to do anything for 4, 6, or 8 hours based on medication toxicity doses. That methodology doesn’t apply to homeopathy, food-based supplements, essential oils, or other natural remedies. The biggest mistake made is not going aggressively in the beginning to get ahead of the illness.
